Full title: The Works of Alexander Pope Esq. Volume V, Containing His Translations and Imitations. Leather boards with (faded) gilt border lines plus spine (with bands). Patterned, coloured endpapers. Illustrated with some b/w engravings - see example images. Condition (external): the leather is very rubbed and chipped in places. The tail of the spine is particularly affected; thereby revealing some of the book's binding material. The main condition-related aspect here is that the front board only just remains attached to the book block. Condition (internal): some tanning with occasional spotting but on the whole the text remains clear and crisp; with the tanning effect more evident on the preliminary and final pages. The decorative front endpaper is also just about attached to the bookblock but one of the pages opposite the tile page has completely detached. Other than this, the binding etc is reasonably robust. pp. Ii, 272/8vo. Printed on laid paper.
