Beschreibung
Two volumes from a 1925 set. For someone who is missing these volumes. You'll need to know the set. One of the volumes is Anna Karenina, Vol I-II in the one book. Volume I runs 308 pages. Volume II starts the numbers again at 1 and runs 349 pages. The last line of Volume II: 'The doctor confirmed his surmise in regard to Kitty. Her discomfort was the beginning of pregnancy.' The covers are in very nice shape. The blind stamp design looks good. The lettering on the spine has retained some of the gilt. There is some light rubbing at the spine ends. The cover edges and corners are in very good shape. The front top corner has a tiny spot of superficial rubbing, there are speck-sized spots of superficial rubbing on the other three corners as well, very minor. The page edges look good. The top one has a brown topstain. The spine looks pretty straight. The binding is solid. The pages are nicely tight throughout. There is a thin space with a little webbing showing at the juncture between two of the blank rear end papers. Both of these pages are tightly bound from top to bottom. The covers are solidly bound as well. There is a tan stain off the top edge of both sides of eight consecutive pages, a few of these have three of these small tan stains. They don't reach the print. Separately two of these pages (facing pages) have a tiny tan spot at the middle of the page. It doesn't affect one's ability to read, just touches one word. Otherwise, scrolling through the pages, I'm not finding any others with any soiling. Lot of pages, possible I missed something. I saw three consecutive pages with a little wear at their outer edge, a couple of tiny tears and a crease, nothing anywhere near the print. In general the condition of the pages is very good. There is very little creasing. There are no markings. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. I forgot to mention there is a frontispiece that is in excellent condition and is protected by a tissue guard that is also in excellent condition. The other volume I have from this set is War And Peace, Vols. V-VI, V runs 322 pages. Vol. VI starts again it page 1 and runs 289 pages. You can see the covers in the photos. As is the case with the other volume, they are very clean. Again, the blind stamped design is in very good shape. And again, the gilt lettering on the spine looks pretty good. Here there is a tiny loss of cloth at the top of the spine just adjacent to the front cover. There's also a little bit of rubbing on the other side of the spine just off the top edge. The cover edges are again in very good shape. The cover corners have only speck-sized spots of superficial rubbing. The top page edge again has a brown topstain. It looks good, but there is a white spot, and part of the white spot has created a very small and somewhat blending water stain off the top edge of 60 or so pages, not particularly conspicuous and far from the print. Otherwise, the pages are exceptionally clean. Scrolling through, I'm not finding any soiling. I'm also not finding any creasing. There are no placeholder creases. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. The binding of this book is very similar to the other. The spine is pretty straight. The pages are nicely tight throughout. There is a very thin space with just a little bit of webbing showing the juncture between the last two printed pages of the book. Both pages are tightly bound from top to bottom. The covers are tightly bound as well. As was the case with the other volume, there is a frontispiece which is in excellent condition and a tissue guard which protects it was is also in excellent condition, just a little crinkling, no soiling, no tears.
