The third edition of The Writer's Handbook for Social Work is an essential tool for social work majors and graduate students seeking to elevate the quality of their work. Chapters on documenting in the field, research methods, and APA citation style equip learners to excel on writing projects and research. Learners review numerous examples of APA formatting and citation as well as current use of gender-neutral pronouns and unbiased language. The capstone activity is a literature review, presented as a project-based learning activity: learners are given step-by-step instruction in completing their review. With a focus on practical applications, this comprehensive reference covers a wide range of topics including grammar principles, punctuation rules, and writing style. To reinforce skill development, complex principles are presented using a scaffolding approach: topics are broken into simple concepts so that learners can practice and assimilate the new skill into their own writing. Simple steps lead to complex learnings. The reader-friendly format of the text makes this handbook a valuable resource for undergraduate and graduate students throughout their studies. To develop your social work writing curriculum, consider using this comprehensive resource with its companion workbook, 12 Workshops for Writing in Social Work.
