Unstated early Reilly & Britton Co. edition--1909 copyright by the British publisher M. Witmark & Sons on the title page with no additional editions or printings being stated. A G+ to VG large 8vo hardcover with a pasted color illustration on the upper board. No dust jacket (if Issued). Prior to the half-title page is a page with printed gift language that has been filled in with a black ink pen and references the date 'Nov. 29, 1911'. There is also an issue with the first of two double spread illustrations. There is a slight starter--exposed binding--prior to page 77 and it appears the double spread illustration between page 72 and 77 came loose and was then securely reattached to the gutter of page 72. In reattaching this double spread illustration, however, it was reattached upside down. This double spread illustration also now has a corner crease of less than an inch in length. The contents are otherwise VG+. This includes color illustrated end papers, a full-color frontispiece, 11 additional full-color illustrations, the aforementioned 2 double spread illustrations, and numerous in text decorations in black and white and two to five colors. Very nice. Blue cloth with black spine lettering and the aforementioned color illustration pasted on the upper board. Well rubbed corner tips; lightly bumped spine head and tail edges. The upper board's illustration has a small smudge-like mark near the fore edge and a faint stain outline near the spine tail, but still looks sharp. No ex-library markings.
