Bound in red cloth with Musson publisher device in gilt on upper board and gilt lettering on spine with "Musson" at the bottom, and publisher device in blind on rear cover. Crimped and a little frayed at the spine ends, tips rubbed, bottom fore corner bumped, hinges sound. Undated, but an early edition (possibly 1890s) from the sheets of the UK edition first published by Chatto & Windus (their name appears on the title page as well as Musson's) in 1889. Printed by Spottiswoode & Co. of London, and final page has Chatto & Windus publisher's device. With two hundred and twenty illustrations by Dan Beard; 525 pages of text. The illustration of "The King" is on page 43 (not 59 as per the US edition) and has the first issue point of an "s" between "The" and "King", which was later corrected in the US edition. Interestingly, the image itself of "The King" is reversed from that of the US edition. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 19035
