Jack is a sales advisor, speaker and trainer who divides his time between Luzern, Switzerland and Woodstock, NY.
His first love was writing. Then he hit puberty. "It's a good thing I fell in love with writing first," Jack laughs, "because I probably would have been too distracted to put pen to paper."
That near obsession with the essence of human nature was seen as a handi- cap by some of Jack's high school teachers, but it was seen as a strength by his most memorable journalism professor at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. In Jack's last semester of his senior year, MAG 505's Professor Keats said, "I don't care if you write fact or fiction in this course. What I want is the truth! I want you to write about the timeless and universal condition of human nature."
"I'm an over-communicator to the point of no return," Jack says. "I really see it as a flaw. I can't help myself. At the same time, the human con- dition is where wisdom lies, even in business. I see Shakespeare in the meeting room. I see Rumi in great presentations. To my pleasant surprise, I've been called a poet in a business suit. The only thing that's changed since then is... I've lost the suit."
After a year as a news and feature writer at his hometown newspaper, love brought him to Barcelona, Spain where, as it turned out, English-language journalists weren't in high demand. Fortunately, the world of international marketing communications had a place for an over-communicator, so Jack found himself selling and marketing wine, then fast-moving consumer goods, and then high-profile sports events.
He's marketed and sold the global sponsorships and TV rights to some of the world's most exciting sports properties, including the Olympic Games, World Cup Football/Soccer and the ATP Men's Tennis Tour.
He's sold to - and provided sales training, presentation skills and leader- ship development to - some of the world's leading companies. An ab- breviated list includes Coca-Cola, MasterCard, Visa, Boston Consulting Group, IBM, ESPN, NBC Universal, Eurovision/EBU, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, Phonak, Emerson and Panasonic, as well as numerous start- ups and independent consultants.
As guest lecturer at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences & Arts, Jack uses non-traditional approaches to hold the attention of students. "I'm the disruptive one," he insists.
He has facilitated strategic retreats for corporations in far-off places and has led panels for Non-Governmental Organizations in Davos during the World Economic Forum. He's frequently asked to moderate corporate events and industry conferences alike, such as Enterprise Marketing 2.0 in Amsterdam and InnoCos Beauty in New York.
The host of TEDxLuzern and TEDxZug, Jack is a TEDx speaker himself. His 2014 TEDxLugano Talk, A Sale Is A Love Affair, was overwhelmingly voted the best talk of the day by the audience.
Jack is also the 2006 European Champion of the Toastmasters Humorous Speech Contest, with his memorable speech, The Love Coach. If over- communicating about his obsession isn't enough, he also officiates weddings and writes love poetry.
