Al Sarno

DR. AL has over 25 years of experience in teaching in higher education, both undergraduate and graduate, concurrent to over 39 years of experience in counseling others. Further, he has over 20 concurrent years of experience in supervising others in management and over 20 concurrent years in providing clinical supervision. Presently, he is an Assistant Professor at Liberty University Online in the Department of Community Care and Counseling,

School of Behavioral Sciences as faculty. Previously, assigned to Ft. Leavenworth, KS, he was a consultant and educator to U.S. military service members and their families for over five years. Prior to that, he was a counselor and consultant in the Military & Family Life Counselor program where for over six years, he had been to several US military installations to provide services and support to US service members and their families.

He is in practice currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri concurrent to other experience since 1990. He is in practice currently also a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Kansas. He is Board Certified in Professional Counseling (BCPC) from the American Psychotherapy Association, from where he also is a Board Certified PTSD Clinician. He has held various faculty positions in several accredited institutions.

He and his wife, Carrie, enjoy humor, movies, and music together as well as walking especially at the Kansas City Zoo or at Crown Center and the Union Station Link. We also serve in various capacities at a local thrift shop, Hillcrest, that benefits homeless families with transitional housing, support, and training for 90 day stays with 5 year follow up to give them “A Hand Up not A Hand Out”.
