Love doesn’t have any boundaries nor does political issues and geographical travels. A brave and courageous woman who found her way to a different lifestyle in avoiding the obstacles that was set before her in her travels.

Devika who crowned her love for one foreigner and became the trailing spouse in her experience in a foreign country. Her intermarriage in the Republic of South Africa after the abolition of apartheid are plain proof of her actions. The husband left his country known then as ‘’old Yugoslavia,’’ to find better life in a far away country of Africa.

The two met and fell in love and right away he knew she was the one for him. Born in the third generation in the Indian community her ancestors from Tamil Nadu were moved to South Africa from one colony to the then British Empire to work in the sugar cane plantations has certainly shown progress over the years in living in South Africa.

In 2002, they made another bold decision.

They sold all they had, packed their bags and moved to Konavle.

This couple has proven love for each other and are living happily in the most southern part of Croatia. Harmoniously living at the foot of the ancient Sokol castle. A village called Dunave, at the intersection of the old shopping street, where people of different religions and nations met for centuries to exchange goods. Devika married boldly to a white man after graduating college.
