Julia Barnard

Life changed for Julia Barnard in 2003 when she moved from the UK to Adelaide, Australia. She set up her own counselling practice and discovered a love of cooking.

Through her counselling work, she embraced Positive Psychology and the science of happiness. She has written many articles on happiness and wellbeing which were published on her website Make the Change. In 2010 she authored the workbook Promoting Happiness which enabled the reader to get actively involved in the process of creating their own happiness.

In 2012, Julia took some of her own advice and followed her passion for cooking to create a vegetarian cookbook: Vegetarian Tapas. Her motivation to write it was given a boost the day she was served over-priced carrots as a tapas dish. She has been a vegetarian since 1995.

August 2014 saw the publication of the paperback edition of Make the Change: Over 250 Tips for Your Wellbeing and Happiness.

March 2015 saw the publication of Vegan Tapas. Realising how many recipes from Vegetarian Tapas were already vegan she spent time in the kitchen veganising those which weren't. She's done all the hard work - so you don't have to. She is most proud of her vegan Scotch egg!

Vegetarian Lunches for Two was published November 2015 - as she was bored with the same old lunches.
