David M Hancock

David M has spent decades writing in his journals, trying to decipher the mysterious powers of the authors he especially admires: Ursula K. Le Guin, D.M. Thomas, Roger Zelazny, Philip Pullman, Borges, Garcia Marquez and so many more. In the way of adolescents, he tends to get crushes on writers and will devour their entire canons before moving on. You can tell by that list that sci-fi and magical realism are close to his heart.

It's only in recent years that David M has felt ready to tell his own stories, or as Georgia O'Keeffe once said, "to make his unknown, known." He's grateful to the platform that Amazon.com has given to writers like himself.

David M follows two pole stars in his own writing endeavors:

1. That a writer must tell the story that only he or she can tell.

2. In the late 1970s, the author and playwright Tennessee Williams was asked by an interviewer what advice he would give to young writers. David M remembers Mr. Williams' words because he wrote them down in his journal: "I hope he follows his heart, baby. His poor, frightened heart."

David M is a writer living in New York City. He writes under a pseudonym because he works for a conservative Fortune 500 company that would be appalled at his frank depictions of gay themes and sex.

Watch for David M's upcoming collection of gay-themed speculative fiction. In the language of fantasy he addresses the experiences of his life's journey; being in the closet, fear of HIV, tricks gone bad, isolation, aging, and, occasionally, love. And lots of sex!
