Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is a fascinating collection of 15th-century sonnets by Italian poet Domenico di Giovanni, better known by his pseudonym Burchiello. Burchiello was a master of the burlesque form and is renowned for his satirical wit and biting social commentary. The sonnets in this volume offer a unique glimpse into the social, political, and cultural landscape of 15th-century Florence and Italy more broadly. Burchiello's targets range from corrupt clergy to pretentious nobles, and his sharp tongue spares no one. Through his satirical lens, the reader gains insights into everything from the hypocrisy of the Church to the absurdity of human vanity. Burchiello's work is not merely a historical curiosity, but it remains relevant today for its timeless insights into human nature and the foibles of society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In-8° (cm. 21,1x13,2), pp. 303.
