Julie Mackenzie

Hello! I was born in Salzburg, Austria, in a region where religion is deeply rooted in natural beauty and the sounds and textures of simple living. The license to create an imaginary Catholic parish and its clerics was borne out of just the right circumstances. Growing up in Maryland here in the US, I attended school with nuns and uniforms and could see through the classroom window as priests went on their soul-saving errands, always intriguing to me..Books and my imagination were constant companions with an interest in church cats to come later, after years of writing news for television, feature articles for newspapers and magazines, and the production of a talk show.

I rely on feline muses now to inspire me as I create the celebrated and opinionated Father Tom Fishworthy, SJ, former street cat now roman-collared and Heaven-bound. Enjoy!
