Under the African Sun is my first novel. It is a coming-of-age story. Love, friendships, betrayal and intrigue, all play out against the backdrop of South Africa's turbulent politics, in 1976.

My home is in the valley of Hout Bay in Cape Town, South Africa, where I've lived for almost 30 years. I am a freelance lecturer for CPUT. My moonlighting job is writing :)

I am an avid reader and Ian Mc Ewan is one of my gurus. I was schooled in the classics, so

Thomas Hardy's Tess, sparked my interest in writing. I have also read all of Mary Wesley's novels and was inspired by her quirky female characters. Of course, J K Rowling is up there with the greats and William Shakespeare has given me my bread and butter in the teaching world!

Writing is a passion that bubbles up inside you. If you feel it, do it!
