Full bound in maize buckram with gilt GCP logo on cover, gilt title on red morocco spine label, t.e.g., rest uncut. Spine and edges somewhat thumbed but interior bright and bin…ding tight and square. [Chanticleer 73]. The text is from the 1743 edition of Henry Fielding's (1707 - 1754) work. Fielding was known for his humour and satire; his comic novel Tom Jones is still widely appreciated and he is considered one of the founders of the traditional English novel. He also holds a place in the history of law enforcement: as a magistrate he founded London's first full-time police force. Denis Tegetmeister (1895 - 1987) (illustrator).
