Jaffray… presumed to be the J R Jaffray, head of the prominent New York dry goods jobbers. General signs of use, with abrasion to front board lower corner. Period bookplate ("J. R. Jaffray"). Very Good. 19th C. deep maroon half leather binding with marbled paper boards. Black leather spine label 1st edition thus, and overall 3rd edition, 2nd issue (BAL 4496; Wright I, 830).
