Bell died in 1918 with the hope that his continued memoirs would be published. The Collector's Edition was limited to 100 copies. This is copy No. 97 and is signed by the editors, Dewey and Nola Mosier. Front end page map has been mounted upside down, with duplicate map on last end pages. Tales of the Trinity by Major Horace Bell has been reproduced in its original form with very little editing. Following Bell's text is a section of annotations which explain the geography of the area involved, points out discrepancies between Bell's statements and those of other authors, or supports the history revealed in Bell's account. Tales of the Trinity begins in February 1851 on the west bank of the Sacramento River where a party of 25 adventurous frontiersmen were about to embark on a gold hunting journey to Grand Old Shasta and beyond.
