good condition hardback in the original gilt decorated cloth. gilt edges. 167pages. illustrated with drawings by A.S.Boyd. frontispiece loose. a little marking to the binding. a scarce account, in humorous vein, of the trial trip, in the form of a voyage to the Hebrides, of the s.s. "St.[Saint]George". the ship was built on the Clyde at Govan by the London and Glasgow Engineering and Iron Shipbuilding Company, for Murray Brothers of Glasgow. The trial trip took place in August 1881, but her career was short, being lost off the coast of Cornwall in November of the following year.
