Vibrant cover art by Paul Rader shows an illustration of an attractive blonde girl dressed in pink, while an older brunette looks seductively at her from behind. Back wrapper contains a brief summary: "Whispered words, floating on the shadows, reassuring and seductive and intended to lead to other words.words of passion and surrender, words that would bring an end of waiting to one, an end of innocence for the other. Produced during the formative years of modern lesbian fiction (ca. 1950-1970), Pages 137-148 are present but loose from binding, otherwise in very good condition.

[LGBTQ Pulp] Mayo, Dallas (Pen name of Gil Fox). Pretty Puppet. New York: Midwood Books, 1964. First Edition with cover confirming: "First Printing Anywhere." 156 pages. Measures 4.25" x 7". Vintage cover paul acclaimed pulp artist Paul Rader features a woman above a blue screen, holding a cross-brace that controls a life-like blonde woman-puppet. Tagline reads: "She was eager to be taught each new step of the strangely illicit dance of desire." Plot follows Toni, a "breathtakingly beautiful" girl who falls in love with Selena, all while being enchanted by Eunice, and the lesbian love triangle that results. According to Mount Saint Vincent University: Gilbert Fox served as a well-decorated lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in World War II. After the war, he received a master's degree in music from Bowling Green University where he met and married his wife, Patricia. In the 1950s they moved to Greenwich Village where they became part of the New York swinging sex scene and started writing Lesbian Pulp Fiction. Fox and his wife became participants in the CIA's early clandestine LSD experiments through CIA operative, George White. He penned various lesbian pulp novels under the Midwood name, and was close to several "pro-lesbian" pulp authors of the time including Elaine Williams. Cover is vibrant and textblock tight. Overall, in very good condition.
