A fine example of a printer's sample book, giving stunning examples of foil embossing, blind embossing and other printing techniques-- Degen won the 1984 National Printing Industry of America's Benny award for this volume. The entire piece is pulled together on the theme of the Native American in the Western New York/Buffalo area, with images of The Maid of the Mist ( Blind embossed on heavy white paper) ; Quanah Parker (gold embossed on cream paper and embossed in gray on cream paper) ; Red Jacket/ Sagoyewatha (color photo illustration on cream paper) ; a cigar store Indian (color photo illustration on cream paper) ; 2 large foil embossed coins - a 1907 Indian head penny in copper and a Buffalo nickel in silver on cream paper; photo illustrations of Indian motorcycles and a silver embossed Indian Motorcycle logo on black paper, and several pages of different types of photo reproductions of "The Indian Hunter," a sculpture in Delaware Park, Buffalo, by John Q. Ward, followed by a full-page blind embossed imag.
