Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Good+. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fair dj. Illustrated by (dj) Skrenda (illustrator). First Edition. [solid copy with moderate wear and slight bumping at several corners, ffep removed; jacket heavily edgeworn, spine missing about 1-1/2" at bottom, a little paper loss at most corners, quarter-sized chip at bottom corner of rear panel, various other small nicks and chips; fortunately the wear to the jacket has had only minimal impact on the attractive front panel art]. A beautiful young redhead, desperate to raise the money necessary to send her seriously ill mother to a sanatorium in Arizona, places an ad in the personals: "Young girl in desperate circumstances will agree to marry in return for loan of $5,000." Unfortunately, the guy who takes her up on it is her wealthy employer, "a man whom [she] could never love." (Oh, so it wasn't all about the money, after all? I'm confused.).

Hardcover. Zustand: Good condition. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good dust jacket. Reprint. New York: Grosset and Dunlap, 1936. Good condition in a Good dust jacket (see photos). A square, tight copy. The colorful jacket features a drawing of Cupid and a photo of a pretty girl. Water stain to Dust Jacket, primarily on the rear panel. Protected by a removable Brodart clear-plastic sleeve (removed for photos). Some color from the Dust Jacket has bled, discoloring the book's spine and rear cover. Internally clean, unmarked, and in Very Good condition. Better looking than it sounds (see photos). Reprint of the John H. Hopkins & Son original edition. By the author of WANT AD HEIRESS and GOLDEN GODDESS. Bound in the original yellow cloth, lettered in black on the spine and front cover. The opening lines: "It was the second time that afternoon that Ted, the office boy, had closed the door. For the third time, Craddock rose and very quietly opened it, not so wide this time -- perhaps about a foot. But, by moving his chair, and craning his neck, he could see the front of her desk and the back of her head." From the Dust Jacket: "Margo Haynes is lovely and lovable but her love is dangerous. In the net of her scheming both she and her sweetheart are entangled.". Reprint. Hardcover. Good condition/Good dust jacket. 8vo. 252pp.
