Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. This is a copy of the "New Illustrated Edition", "Reprinted November, 1916";of Masters's "Spoon River Anthology". It is bound in the scarce red leather over slightly flexible boards, decorated with the same gilt motif as found on the black cloth trade edition. This has been called the second printing of the first edition of the complete poems; all six illustrations are present as required, paginated xxi, blank verso, 310, [ii] short title for catalog, [v] catalog, blank verso; internally pages are clean and unmarked with no age spotting or toning save for the 2 small spots on the title page [photo], which are mirrored on the facing illustration; the red leather covers show light overall handling wear, one small chip at the top of the front joint [photo]; spine is slightly sunned, and has been treated with Cellugel, a stabilizing agent from Talas. There is also the light pencil signature of a previous owner on the front pastedown. I can find no record of this variant [deluxe?] binding currently for sale.
