England, 1976. Una de las características definitorias del arte islámico es su abundante uso de patrones geométricos para adornar una amplia variedad de superficies arquitectónicas y decorativas. Las fuentes de las formas y patrones básicos utilizados en la ornamentación islámica tienen sus raíces en las tradiciones artísticas de los imperios bizantino y sasánida preislámicos.
