Buch Erstausgabe Signiert
Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good Plus. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). Signed and inscribed on the first front end paper by the author, Maurice Frink at Fort Defiance, Arizona. This is a particularly nice-looking book. As you can see from the photographs the dark blue covers are perfectly clean. The gilt and blue design on the spine is bright and unworn. There really isn't any wear that needs to be called out with regard to the covers. Even the corners look unworn. And the page edges are all very clean. The book is square, straight, and very solidly bound from beginning to end, not one binding issue. The front inside cover and signed first front end paper have some margin darkening. That is not the case for the rest of the pages. You might expect to see some foxing or spotting on pages that have so many illustrations, but that is not the case. There is no spotting or foxing. And the pages are exceptionally clean, a few scrolls-through revealed no soiling at all. And the pages are in very nice condition. I didn't see any creasing. There is one bottom corner of one page that is folded in a little. Unfolding it revealed the reason, the corner of the page was originally cut a little too long. There are no markings in this book. There are no attachments. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. The dust jacket deserves some of the credit for the excellent condition of the book. It is in solid shape. I'm not seeing any tears. I've had the jacket in a protective fitted cover for as long as I've owned the book. As you can see there is rubbing on areas of the front cover and spine. There also appears to be two very tiny spots of loss at the top edge of the spine. The white rear cover does have foxing/spotting. That is not the case on the flaps which are in very good condition. They are not foxed and they are very clean with just a tiny bit of toning at the top edges and a little wrinkling at the bottom edge of the front one. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. 'This interesting biography, together with more than 100 of Christian Barthelmess' fine photographs, makes an important contribution to Western history in the last half of the 19th century.'. Inscribed by Author(s).
