Buch Erstausgabe Signiert
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good. 1st Edition. Little, Brown & Company, Boston. 1936. 272 pages. First edition, third printing, stated. Signed and inscribed by the author on the front endpaper: Cordially yours, Archer B. Gilfillan. Book is tight. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Green illustrated boards are bright and clean. Pages are clean; endpapers show faint, scant, faint foxing. Super-rare original DJ, with $2.50 price intact on flap. DJ shows a noticeable open chip on upper right corner on front, smaller chip on front shoulder, and shallow chipping elsewhere. Rear of DJ shows two faint marks. Despite the DJ's obvious flaws, its rarity makes up for it, as these DJs have mostly crumbled away. First published in 1929, Sheep is considered the definitive account of sheepherding in the Old West. From snowy blizzards to hungry wolves, Gilfillan shares his trials and tribulations of life as a sheepherder; with added color on the cowboys and women of the Old West. A desirable early copy, in its rare, original DJ from 1936. Signed, VG+/G. Signed by Author(s).
