Buch
Hardcover. Zustand: VG+. No Jacket. Photos, Maps (illustrator). 1st. This title in the extensive (13 volumes) un-official History of NZ Army operations in the South Pacific in WWII covers the activities of the various units of the Third Division's base organisation --- the "Base Wallahs." The book runs to 31 chapters, each one representing a different element of the base units. The account begins with the establishment of the divisional Advanced Party, setting up the HQ, then running though the individual units, The collective gives a clear picture of the complexity and wide variety of responsibilites allocated to the base units and the part of each cog in the smooth running of the military machine. The record conludes with the Rear Party, charged with returning the troops and their equipment to NZ. First edition of 1946 from the Third Division Histories Committee/Reed. 256 pages, b/w frontis portrait, 70+ b/w illustrations mainly photos, but including art by NZ war artists, e-paper maps/map. Orange hard covers with black spine titles VG+, internally excellent, no inscriptions, few spots vertical page edges as closed. A quality copy of a scarce title in this series.
