A magnificent full leather binding of this great work on the subject. 64 plates of coins are illustrated at the rear of the book, and this is preceded by 300 pages of text. This unique and utterly classic library binding volume was commissioned from The Government Printing Office, in Mauritius, for the bibliophile Sir Robert Scott. Sir Robert was the Governor of Mauritius from Mar 1954 until Jul 1959. He had many of the books especially bound for him, and they are exemplary. Such elegant and beautifully crafted works are expensive, and to commission this standard today would be at least three times the price of this one. Fine bindings are highly sought after collectables. For those seeking unique books, built to last, such books impart a refined impression to a home. If the book is also a timeless classic it becomes a permanent keepsake. This gorgeous book is made to last for centuries. Two useful coin cards are loosely enclosed. The slightly smaller volume has 64 plates, and is titled ROMAN COINS from the earliest times to the fall of the western empire. This has two loose laid cards inside, featuring coins of the twelve Caesars and the second with Roman Republican coins.
