He was one of the first historians to write more broadly, not just focusing on politics and royalty, but looking at literature and science as well. This work was a bestseller and make Hume very wealthy. In a full calf binding. Externally, worn. Loss to the tail of the spine, leather lifting to the front and rear joint. Rubbing to the boards and spines. A small amount of loss to the head of the spine. Bumping to the extremities. Light surface cracks to the spine. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spots, a little heavier to the plates. Good. book.
