Half-Leather. Zustand: Near Very Good. Volumes I & II bound as one and Volumes III & IV are bound in one ( 2 books ). In Contemporary Light Brown Calf Half-Leather Bindings with Brown cloth covered Boards and Leather Corners. 5 Raised Bands to spines with Gilt Title on Red Ground in 2nd Compartment and Gilt Vol Nos on Black Ground in 4th. Page edges Marbled. Frontispiece of Vol. I has an engraved portrait of Luther, protected by Tissue Guards. Vol I is divided into 4 Books. Dante and Erasmus are in Book I and the other 3 are mostly about Luther. 326 Pages. Vol. II has its own Title Page and Contents Pages and contains Books 5 to 8. Book 7 has "the diet of Worms" and Book 8 has "The Swiss 1484 - 1522". 304 Pages. Vol. III contains the 9th to 12th books and includes the first reforms 1521-1522, Switzerland & Germany 1523-1527. 377 p.pages. Vol. IV contains books 14 to 16 and includes: the protest and the conference 1526-1529; Augsberg confession 1536 and Switzerland, conquests and catastrophe. 7 1/4" Tall, 1.2 kilos. Some edge wear and a few small scrapes to leather. Hinges sound & Binding firm. A little light foxing on frontispiece, mainly above the portrait and some browning to first few pages. Most text pages in very good, clean condition. Wight, 1.2 kilos so shipping Outside UK will be a little extra.
