Hardcover. Zustand: Good. First Edition. Previous owner name, place, date, on ffep, blue cloth covers have some damage, presumably book has been stored in damp environment (although this could also have been partially insect damage) and the cloth has almost uniformly lightened (except for most of the spine, and the cloth nearest spine) , back cover cloth is the most affected. The cloth is loosened from the board at bottom outer corner (and a small area along fore-edge toward top) of the back cover and the board is a bit chewed for nearly two inches up from bottom corner and approx. An inch and a half across the bottom from corner. The fore-edge of the last few pages there are gnawed also. The text block doesn't have a musty smell so this damage would appear to have not been completely water-related although there is a bit of damp staining along the bottom edge inside the back cover and to a small area of the corners of the last few pages. The contents are generally in good condition aside from previously mentioned issues. ; Illus. ; 294 pages.

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 5 11/16" x 8 1/2", 294 pp., blue cloth with large gilt illustration on front cover, gilt titling to spine. A very rare Ku Klux Clan title in Very Good condition or better. Eleven illustrations, many full-page, including frontispiece portrait of Lt. General Nathan Bedford Forrest. The history of the KKK from 1865 to 1940, a history the average reader would be shocked to read, given the image of the Klan in current popular belief. This is a very thorough chronology of events, with insight into why the Klan was formed and the men - many of them quite famous and respected - who formed and guided the KKK from the ruins of the Civil War to the mid-20th century. This copy in excellent condition with a perfect interior (no writing, soiling, stains or other issues, just a bit of age-toning to the endpapers). The binding is quite solid and the cover is better than very good, with the front gilt illustration in perfect condition; the spine gilt 'KKK' retains only 35% or so but the 'By Col. W. Jones' at the foot of the spine is intact. There is some bumping and wear at the spine ends and a bit at the corners; otherwise a Near Fine copy. See the photo. Other photos available upon request.
