From the ?Grosherzogliche Bibliothek Neustrelitz? with library stamp and engr. book plate. C.-S. Favart is the author and the music is composed by Pierre de La Garde (1717-92) and J. L. Lesueur. ?Le bal de Strasbourg? was an entertaiment by Favart and De La Garde to celebrate the convalescence of Louis XV. Among the friends invited to the first performance was a.o. François Boucher. Charles-Simon Favart (1710-92), was an influential french opera-comique composer and writer. He was very succesful, become director for the Opéra-Comique theatre and in 1783 a new theatre in Paris was named ?Salle Favart?. Softcover / Paperback.
