Moderate foxing and tanning to pages with front endpaper missing and heavier foxing and tanning to text block edges. Front hinge is cracked with exposed netting. Boards have visible sunning and rubbing. Minor bumping to corners and fair crushing to spine ends. Heavy sunning to spine.

Fold-out map which is without marks or tears but has creasing along the side edge. Bright, clean interior. No inscriptions but for a few dates in pencil. Browning on ffep and last blank endpaper. Brown spotting on page edges and some showing on a few pages. The cloth cover has fading along the spine and discolouration at top right corner. Size about 22 x 14 cms. Tucked inside are two newspaper cuttings, one 'Spoonbills in Devon' and one 'Birds seen from a train window', dated March 26 1946.
