Buch Erstausgabe
Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. First Edition Thus. 1964. xlv, 130pp. Map printed on endpapers. Abridged edition of the songs of John MacDonald, the bard of Keppoch, whose active life extended from the Montrose wars tot he Union of Parliaments. He was of course a clan poet, celebrating the glories and the achievements of the MacDonalds in their various branches, though not as uncritically as other Gaelic poets of the period. But he was also much more. As a fervid supporter of the Stuart cause, he took a keen interest int he political events of his day, on which many of his songs provide a pungent commentary. Introduction, text (in Gaelic) notes and glossary. Blue cloth softcover with titles in black to upper board. Title written in pen to spine which is faded. Some foxing to prelims. Previous owner's name to ffep.
