A book plate or label has been cut from the front free end paper but on the remains is written the name "Mary Juxon from whom the Hawkes family are descended". Cloth, gilt. Spine backstrip lacks top inch of material, otherwise generally Good condition. Scarce.

Pencil owner's name to the front pastedown and another to the rear of the frontispiece -HED Blakiston, indentified as being the President of Trinity College Oxford. Binding a bit loose and separating between sections. Free end papers browned. Dents or small tears to the fore edges of about 20 pages. Inner hinges split. Book.

Disbound. Zustand: Fair. xii, 242 pages, illustrated with five original photographs and another plate. Original cloth with Bishop's mitre embossed to boards, faded, stained and worn. The spine is completely missing. Photographs are fading. Binding splitting around sections I and K and also at the end of the book. There is crayon marking to p115 and to the rear of mount of school photo. Hole in lower corner of final blank page. Rear free end paper is missing, rear pastedown is grubby. Front end papers are very worn and there are ownership inscriptions by Isabella Taylor of Long Compton 1919 in pencil x 2 and Sarah Hunt of Evenlode 1886 in ink. Dusty throughout, with creasing to the page corners and some wear. Also browning and spotting. One brief ink note to the text. A book that is in need of rebinding and some care and attention. Book.
