Dark blue pictorial buckram, decorated spine blocked and ornamented in gilt, top edge gilt, other edges of the text block are attractively untrimmed. 30 stunning Mervyn Peake draawings. Limited to 500 copies on English hand-made paper, with the original imitation slip loose laid. A gorgeous book inside a repaired and fragmented jacket. The jacket has been backed with paper and the whole is contained in a mylar sheath. The front has insignificant losses - nothing 'live' is missing - but the spine is hardly there. Title and author with the publisher name, but that is all. The rear panel of the jacket is blank. The two turnover flaps are the best part of the jacket, complete and still with the price. An essential part of any Peake fan's collection, these superb drawings are possibly his finest work. The limited edition was not individually numbered.
