Buch Erstausgabe
Zustand: new. (Hardcover, 1975). (1972) 1975 enlarged edition. 4to (188 x 250mm). Pp204. B/w photographs, line illustrations by Keith McDougall. Gilt titles to blue boards, spine titled in gilt. Slight use but good-plus in spine-faded and frayed dust-wrapper. This enlarged edition contains several new chapters on top of the material originally included in the first edition. This book "is easily the most enthralling account of one man's enthusiasm for the pursuit of wild geese written this century. In fact it is probably true to say that not since the famous Diaries of Colonel Peter Hawker - which first appeared in 1893 - has there been such a book. The Goose Fever Story is refreshingly told through McDougall's most readable diary records - kept over 40 years - and actually written at the time for the amusement of himself and the two or three companions who shared his annual expeditions. Only now, when persuaded to collect these diaries into a volume, has the author added a few specially-written chapters to weld the whole together, and to summarise his own views on shooting in general and wildfowling in particular". .
