A hint of spotting on endpapers else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.

Not dated but reckoned to be 1895 as there is a prize dedication on front free end paper dated "Jany 1896". For its age, the book is in very good condition - minimal bumping to covers;mark on front pastedown; the neatly-written gift dedication on ffep; binding a little cocked.

H/B red cloth pictorial bds, Good, bds sl. bowed and cloth has some scratches, contents clean and tight, illust. in b/w, pges tanned, neat inscript. on ffep dated 1917.

G original brown boards with boy and girl on an old sailing ship to front board. no dj. both boards have creases to boards with consequent small ridging to covering - but no loss. pretty decorative spine covering. both ends of spine covering are gently rounded - but no loss. noted foxing and the odd mark to ffeps and less so to text block. 1918 presentation plate. pages are browned to edges. all pages present and bound, but feels a little shaken. condition reflected in price for this rare title.
