Housed in illustrated bluish-green wraps, a bit worn and chipped, 24 black-and-white engravings to accompany Charles Dickens' beloved The Pickwick Papers, each page being a black-and-white engraving by Frederick W. Pailthorpe (1838-1914). Measures nearly 11 inches by seven and a half inches. Slight wear and chipping to a few plate edges, light sunning and toning to a few others, light soiling to wrappers, else housed in two plastic sleeves. The suite consists of Front wrapper panel illustration; title illustration; then 1) Reception of the Pickwickians at Eatanswill; 2) Can we put this horse up here, good woman?; 3) Comfortable quarters; 4) What do you think I see in this very arbour last night? Bless us!
