Henryk Paszkiewicz (born March 10, 1897 in ód , died December 8, 1979 in London) - Polish historian, medievalist, analyst of the oldest Russian sources. He studied history in the years 1915-1920 at the University of Warsaw. At that time he belonged to the Polish Military Organization. In 1920, he served in the Warsaw Infantry Regiment during the Polish-Soviet War. He obtained his doctorate in 1920. In 1934, he became a professor at the Free Polish University, and in 1939 he obtained an extraordinary professorship at the University of Warsaw. He participated in the September Campaign. Taken prisoner by the Germans, he spent the war in Oflag VII A Murnau, from where, after the war, he went to Italy. He was among the founders of the Polish Historical Institute in Rome. In 1957 he came to London and settled there permanently. He was one of the organizers of the Polish University Abroad. In 1945, he became a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Learning. In 1945, he was one of the founders of the Polish Historical Institute in Rome. Founding member of the Polish Scientific Society Abroad. In 1960, he received the Writing Award of the Association of Polish Veterans for his work The making of Russian Nation. In 1974 he received the Jurzykowski Foundation Award. A Study of fundamental importance for the understanding of the history of all Eastern Europe. In terms of the origins of the Rus, Paszkiewicz's basic thesis was as follows: Our considerations so far throw some light on the provenance of the Rus'. Since they were not Slavs and inhabited the northern lands, on the Baltic; since their journeyingâ "both warlike and commercialâ "embraced Eastern and Western Europe, only one conclusion can be reached, viz., that they were Norsemen. This work is divided into four parts, addressing eras or phases from the earliest times to the 'Rise of Moscow". There are a number of Appendices addressing such topics as The Geographical Meaning of the term "Rus", the Territory of the Ulichians, the Dulebian League, the Origins of Halicz, and the Ukrainian Nation. First Published in 1954 stated. Presumed first printing.
