Includes two folding maps (both in fine condition), which are facsimiles of maps drawn by Juan Antonio Balthasar and Ignacio Keller. One is bound in the text block and the other is kept in a rear pocket. This book presents two reports written by Juan Antonio Balthasar as he visited the frontier Jesuit missions of New Spain during the early part of the 18th century. Peter Masten Dunne translated and annotated the previously unpublished reports and added a few chapters of background information.
