Contents excellent, just a touch of foxing here and there. Covers very good with a touch of mottling. Dustwrapper very good with a little edge wear. A collection of short stories on the theme of travel, including one by Mervyn Peake called 'The Weird Journey'. The stories are accompanied by numerous illustrations by famous names such as John Piper and Eric Ravilious. Only 2 volumes of 'Harvest' were published (despite a series being planned), the second one appearing in 1950, dedicated to the theme of 'The Household'. First edition hard back binding in publisher's original pea green embossed cloth covers, gilt title lettering to the spine and to the front cover, top edge gilt. 4to. 11½'' x 8¼''. Contains (xi)-blank, 16 pp followed by 136 plates, some on heavy extra stock colour paper, with over one hundred caricaturists being represented including Max Beerbohm, George Cruikshank, Edmund Dulac, William Hogarth, Edward Lear, Eric Ravilious, L. Rodo, William Heath Robinson, Thomas Rowlandson, Spy, John Tenniel, Loren Stout, Henry Tonks, and Gluyas Williams. One plate slightly proud and in very near Fine condition, supplied in archive acetate film protection. Member of the P.B.F.A. DRAWING & CRAFTSMANSHIP.

Coppard, John van Druten, Sean O Faolain, Ronald Fraser, Norah Hoult, Hamish Maclaren, G. B. Stern, and Malachi Whitaker) and also signed by Eric Ravilious who provides the striking B/W frontispiece engraving. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with light fading of the morocco spine but the gilt titling remains bright. Top edge gilt. The decorated boards are exceptionally clean. A small previous owner's neat book-plate to the front pastedown. Internally clean. The book is protected in a removable Mylar cover. A very handsome production. Increasingly elusive.
