This work looks at the interesting history of dance in Europe. The author looks at the development of dance, looking at folk dance, social dancing, ballet, and more. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, three colour plates, seventy-two monochrome plates, and numerous in-text engravings. Written by Cecil Sharp and Paul Oppe. Cecil Sharp was the leader of the twentieth century folk-song revival in England, writing the influential work 'English Folk Song: Some Conclusions'. He also revived the tradition of country dance, as well as promoting Morris dancing, and founding the English Folk Dance Society. Oppe was an art historian and art collector, who was the Deputy Director of the Victoria & Albert Museum, and a Fellow of the British Academy. Collated, complete.
