Pictorial endpapers. Stevenson's collection of sixty four poems for children, first appeared under the title, Penny Whistles, in 1885. Numerous later Illustrated editions followed and this version was illustrated by Charles Robinson (1870-1937). A prolific book illustrator, Robinson had first illustrated the title in 1895 in black and white and it was also the first full book he illustrated.
