Born 1786, Haydon showed prodigious artistic talent, but despite early success, a happy marriage and his life-long association with the great and the good, he spent spells in prison for debt, had all his possessions confiscated on one occasion, and committed a gruesome suicide in 1846. Decorated cloth, red and black on beige. Spine nibbled at top and base; suggest bookworm long departed, but frozen anyway. Contemporary inscriptions. Contents page losing its grip, o/w binding sound.
