Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. Very good hardbacks, now professionally rebound in teal buckram, with gilt lettering on the spine, by a reference library. They asked the binder to include their reference number in gilt at the bottom of each spine, which makes the volumes look attractive. Indeed, the books are extremely well bound. There is the natural foxing to the plates - but it remains to the edges - rarely does it impact on the image shown on each plate. pp.iv, 696 & 836 pages. Large folding map in colours to volume one with 35 b&w engraved plates, volume two contains 65 engraved plates, all by the noted illustrator, William Bartlett.
