No Binding. Zustand: Very Good. A single coloured aquatint plate only. Captioned The Green Woodpecker. Overall sheet size 4to (300 x 242 mm). Engraved by I. Warner after W.R. Jordan. Light dusty type mark to blank top left corner, otherwise in very good clean bright condition. Lovely colouring.** This colour plate is from Ornithologia Danmoniensis , or, an History of the Habits and Economy of Devonshire Birds, parts I & II , by Andrew Tucker. Published with 13 aquatint plates including 6 in both coloured and uncoloured states, . The first English local avifauna. Although 24 parts were planned only 2 parts were ever published. ** Dr Tucker, of Ashburton, Devon, is frequently mentioned by Montagu, and seems to have made many important observations on Devonshire Birds. His projected Ornithologia Danmoniensis came to a very untimely end. But the two parts show the author to have a physiologist, anatomist, and outdoor observer far beyond most men of his time ** (Ref.) Mullens and Swann 590-591.
