Davies, (from T. H. D.)'. Ernest Salter Davies was a Welsh teacher and educationalist, known for being the director of education in Kent from 1918 to 1938. He held a great influence into the development of education in the first half of the twentieth century across England. He won a scholarship in classics to Jesus College in Oxford before 1895. The 'T. H. D.' giver of this book is likely Ernest's father, Thomas Davies, who was a Baptist clergyman.Twenty-two pages of adverts to the rear. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, with some light rubbing and marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the spine and extremities. Spine is a little faded. Front hinge is a little strained but remains firm.
