Quarter Leather. Zustand: Near Fine binding. Signed by Wakefield below the colophon. 6 full page signed etchings along with 8 smaller etched head and tail pieces; exquisite work backed in tan calf with marbled paper over boards and an engraved title pastedown with etching on the upper cover. This is a recollection of the artist's fishing trips in the few years preceding publication. Tench Fisher is Wakefield's first book, closely followed with a more modest but equally impressive revision of Cutcliffe's classic, The Art of Trout Fishing on the Rapid Streams (1982). Wakefield studied under Leonard Baskin and his influence can be seen in Wakefield's early work. Near Fine binding. Limited Edition, numbered 23 of 50 copies.

Chevington Press (illustrator). Folio (275 x 457mm). Quarter bound in caramel leather over marbled paper-covered boards, title label tipped-on to upper board, spine titled in gilt, housed in a later folding cloth-covered boards case with plastic clasps. "This account of my angling experiences covers the 1980 and 1981 seasons. Shobrooke Park Lake is the sole venue, unless otherwise stated. Also included are several etchings, executed during the same period; these are not intended to be illustrations to the text, but could be considered an act of homage to the fishy world - perhaps to invoke better results in the future." Limited to 50 numbered copies signed by the author. Very minor scratches to the leather along the spine, else a near fine copy. A scarce and handsome copy of the first book produced from this press. In pursuit of the elusive tench, the artist--starting his Chevington Press with this title--trolled Shobrooke Park Lake in Devon, England, recording his progress through diary entries duly illustrated on hand-made paper. Fourteen etchings (five with colour) by the author on various coloured hand made papers. From the colophon: "This slim volume was designed and printed during the summer of 1981 at Tiverton in Devon. The Perpetua type was set by hand. The various hand-made papers are from Barcham Green. The edition is limited to 50 numbered copies." The Chevington Press was set up by Bob Wakefield in 1980. Quarter bound in caramel leather over marbled paper-covered boards, title label tipped-on to upper board, spine titled in gilt, housed in a later folding cloth-covered boards case with plastic clasps.

Zustand: Fine in original clamshell. First edition. Striking limited edition artist's book that contrasts the violent world of prize fighting with the measured, clean format of a fine press book. Pulling from scanty historical sources about the identities of prize fighters in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, D. R. Wakefield presents brief biographical vignettes of 14 Jewish prize fighters during a 55-year period. Through the personal stories of the fighters, Wakefield also throws some light on the culture of prize fighting in the period; and through their heavy, deeply-embossed portraits, he almost simulates the impact of a blow. An enthralling production. 15'' x 10.5''. Original red quarter-goatskin binding with paste paper boards, paper title label to front board and gilt spine lettering. Etched frontispiece with 14 etched portraits and a number of smaller etchings throughout. [22] leaves. Signed by Wakefield to colophon, numbered 14 of 55. In original grey cloth clamshell box, with red spine label. Lower edge of spine label with a touch of rubbing. Clean and tight.

Wakefield, a protege of Leonard Baskin, with whom Sullivan first discussed the project in 1993 for Baskin's Gehenna Press.
