Buch Erstausgabe
Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. First Edition. Card covers show light shelf wear, small crease front bottom edge. ; A bright, solid book, illustrated with B&W photos ; Trade PB; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 226 pages; Oliver Wells 1907-1970 spent many hours researching a Chilliwack native history but was killed in a traffic accident before this could be finished. His daughter Marie Weeden was determined to finish his work and approached Dr.Ralph Maud (SFU) and Dr. Brent Galloway (linguist) to help her transcribe the many tapes of oral history that Wells had accumulated while interviewing his native friends. Wells had grown up on a farm in the valley of the Chilliwack River and made friends with the native people of the area. While not an ethnographer, his affection for these people and desire help them retain their culture has resulted in this book as well as the revival of the Salish weaving techniques they used. This book contains many of these interviews along with photos, maps and drawings.
