Major Francis Charles Claypon Yeats-Brown, DFC (1886-1944), was an officer in the British Indian army and far right politician, the author of the bestselling memoir 'The Lives of a Bengal Lancer', for which he was awarded the 1930 James Tait Black Memorial Prize and became a film in 1935 starring Gary Cooper. He died in 1944 after touring the battlefields of Burma to gather material for this book, published posthumously.
