The front cover has a gilt design but there's also four small stains. The latter is the only fault. Otherwise, the book is VG being tightly bound and square. (On the first blank page, there's a neat Xmas gift inscription dated 1950).

A very, very nice copy of Arthur Rackham's first illustration of this classic. 13 full colour, tissue-guarded illustrations plus many black and white drawings throughout. Green cloth boards with gilt decoration to front and spine. Publishers blind stamp to rear board. Decorated endpapers. Copyright page says "All Rights Reserved". Clean, straight boards only minimal bumping corners and spine ends, small, mild, dark stain to rear board. Spine slightly darkened. Endpapers toned, prelims blotchy foxing, Xmas (1912) inscription to ffep. No further markings throughout. Age related foxing as offset from reverse of final colour plate to text, otherwise a remarkably well-kept, uncompromised copy with very little to distinguish it from a Near Fine grading.
